on seeing it all and dying

The oldest nun at Gebchak Nunnery, Jogema Dondrub Chomtso, shares her memories with Wangdrak Rinpoche about living at Gebchak from the age of 8, surviving the Cultural Revolution, rebuilding the Nunnery and looking forward to dying.

Some Tibetan terms she uses are:

TSANG-YANG GYAMTSO: the founder of Gebchak Nunnery. The first Tsang-Yang Gyamtso was a heart disciple of the first Drubwang Tsoknyi Rinpoche. The present and 3rd Tsangyang Gyamtso is also known as Kunzang Nyima.

TUKDAM: a deep meditative composure that realized meditation practitioners can enter at the time of death. After all vital functions have stopped, the physical body is able to remain sitting upright and with warmth at the heart for several days. There are many witnessed accounts throughout the world of this happening with Tibetan Buddhist practitioners.

DRUBCHEN: a sadhana practice undertaken by a group of people which continues uninterruptedly for seven or more days.

ZANGDOG PALRI: the pure land of Guru Padmasambhava.
